Last updated September 25, 2026. This page describes the Mac app and the freemacspace.app website operated as FreeMacSpace.

The Mac app stays local

Scans and cleanup run on your Mac. FreeMacSpace does not upload your files, scan results, or folder paths. There is no account required to scan, and the app does not include analytics or advertising trackers.

Network access in the app is limited to license checks when billing is configured, and to feedback or refund requests you choose to send. A license check contacts our license API. It does not send the files you scanned.

What we do receive

• Checkout. Purchases are processed by Paddle, which is the Merchant of Record. Paddle receives the payment details you enter at checkout (such as email and payment method). We receive what we need to issue a license: plan, email, and transaction identifiers. See Paddle’s privacy notice for how they process payment data.
• License. A license is for one Mac. You can deactivate it in the app and activate it on another machine. Activation associates that license with a device identifier so it cannot be used on two machines at once.
• Messages you send. Feedback and refund requests are sent only when you submit them from the app or by emailing hello@freemacspace.app.

This website

freemacspace.app uses Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics) to record page views, including the page path and title. That measurement is for the website, not for files on your Mac.

The download page links to our billing host, which redirects to the DMG for Apple Silicon or Intel. That request does not include a scan of your disk.

Who processes data for us

• Paddle — checkout and payments (Merchant of Record).
• Our billing / license host — license issuance and entitlement checks.
• Email delivery — transactional mail such as license delivery when configured.
• Firebase Analytics — website page views only.
• Hosting / CDN — serving freemacspace.app and download redirects.

Retention

License and purchase records are kept for as long as needed to provide the product, prevent abuse, and meet tax or accounting obligations. Feedback and refund emails are kept long enough to handle your request. Website analytics are retained according to the Firebase / Google Analytics settings for this property. You can ask us to delete or correct personal data we hold by emailing hello@freemacspace.app, subject to legal retention requirements.
